{"id":753,"date":"2018-08-14T22:20:52","date_gmt":"2018-08-14T19:20:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/quran-for-all.com\/blog\/2018\/08\/14\/first-ten-days-dhul-hijjah-special-season-worship\/"},"modified":"2018-08-14T22:20:52","modified_gmt":"2018-08-14T19:20:52","slug":"first-ten-days-dhul-hijjah-special-season-worship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quran-for-all.com\/blog\/first-ten-days-dhul-hijjah-special-season-worship\/","title":{"rendered":"First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah: Special Season of Worship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the start of Dhul-Hijjah less than a week away, Muslims all over the world are preparing to embark on a journey of a lifetime. However, if you are among those who will instead be watching them on TV and wishing you were with them, you must be asking yourself: What do I do during these days?<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16635\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.new-muslims.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/First-Ten-Days-of-Dhul-Hijjah.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16635 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.newmuslim.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/First-Ten-Days-of-Dhul-Hijjah-300x264.jpg?resize=300%2C264\" alt=\"Dhul-Hijjah\" width=\"300\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">There are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Let us remind ourselves of some specific and other general deeds which will <em>in sha\u2019 Allah<\/em> maximize our benefit from the best of all days!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Superiority of These Days<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The immense importance of these days is shown by the fact that Allah (Exalted be He) swears an oath by them in the Qur\u2019an: <strong>\u201cBy the dawn; And (by) ten nights.\u201d<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.learning-quran.com\/quran-translations\/german-translation\/recitation-of-surat-al-fajr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Al-Fajr <\/a>89:1-2)<\/p>\n<p>In Tafsir Ibn Kathir it is mentioned that the <strong>\u201cten nights\u201d <\/strong>in the verse above refer to the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days (i.e., the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah).\u201d He was asked: \u201cO Messenger of Allah, not even<a title=\"The Deeds Most Beloved to God: The Gates to Goodness\" href=\"http:\/\/www.new-muslims.info\/abcs-of-islam\/articles-of-faith\/the-deeds-most-beloved-to-god-the-gates-to-goodness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <em>Jihad<\/em> in the Cause of Allah<\/a>?\u201d He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, \u201cNot even Jihad in the Cause of Allah, except in case one goes forth with his life and his property and does not return with either of it.\u201d (Al-Bukhari)<\/p>\n<p>The reason righteous deeds are more rewarding during these days, according to Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, is because they are Hajj days in the <a title=\"A Blessed Month of a Special Nature\" href=\"http:\/\/www.new-muslims.info\/featured\/a-blessed-month-of-a-special-nature\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sacred season of pilgrimage<\/a>. Because of their excellence and importance, Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) swore by them.<\/p>\n<p>So what can you do to honor these days?<\/p>\n<h2><strong>1- Take Special Care of Your Obligations<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Before talking about any voluntary actions (and bonuses), it is important to remind ourselves that we must first take care of all our obligations. How can we think of building and beautifying a house without constructing its pillars? Thus, we have to pay special attention to the <a title=\"The Five Pillars of Islam\" href=\"http:\/\/www.new-muslims.info\/abcs-of-islam\/pillars-of-islam\/five-pillars-islam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pillars of Islam<\/a> and strive to perfect our obligations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>a- Pray on time (and in congregation, for men)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Messenger of Allah said, \u201cVerily, between a man (i.e., a Muslim) and between shirk (polytheism) and <em>kufr <\/em>(disbelief) is the abandoning of <a title=\"Prayer: The Healthy Structure of Your Life\" href=\"http:\/\/www.new-muslims.info\/featured\/prayer-the-healthy-structure-of-your-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">As-Salah (prayers)<\/a>.\u201d (Muslim)<\/p>\n<p><strong>b- Give your<a title=\"Zakah in Islam: Concepts and Rules\" href=\"http:\/\/www.new-muslims.info\/acts-of-worship\/zakat-islamic-worships\/zakah-in-islam-concepts-and-rules\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em> zakat<\/em><\/a> if it is due!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>c- If you have not yet fulfilled the obligation of Hajj, make special <a title=\"Du&#096;aa\u2019: the Essence of Worship\" href=\"http:\/\/www.new-muslims.info\/abcs-of-islam\/articles-of-faith\/duaa-the-essence-of-worship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>du`aa\u2019<\/em> <\/a>to Allah to grant you the opportunity to do so soon and in the best of manners.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>2- Supplicate for Sighting of the New Moon<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Start the month with this supplication:<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Allah is the Most Great. O Allah, bring us the new moon with security and Faith, with peace and in Islam, and in harmony with what our Lord loves and what pleases Him. Our Lord and your Lord is Allah.\u2019 (Fortress of the Muslim)<\/p>\n<h2><strong>3- Repeat <em>Tahleel<\/em>, <em>Takbir<\/em> and <em>Tahmeed<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>These remembrances have a special connection to these ten days:<\/p>\n<p>Our Prophet said: \u201cThere are no days that are greater before Allah or in which good deeds are more beloved to Him, than these ten days, so recite a great deal of <em>tahleel<\/em> (saying <em>La ilaaha illa Allah<\/em>, here\u2019s no god but Allah), <em>takbir <\/em>(saying <em>Allahu Akbar<\/em>, Allah is Greatest) and <em>tahmeed<\/em> (saying <em>Alhamdulillah, <\/em>all praise be to Allah) during them.\u201d (Ahmad)<\/p>\n<p>The Companions would go to the marketplace and recite the <em>takbir <\/em>out loud and people would also recite after hearing them. Let us follow their footsteps and encourage others to recite the <em>takbir<\/em> as well, as an <a title=\"For Valid Acts of Worship\" href=\"http:\/\/www.new-muslims.info\/abcs-of-islam\/pillars-of-islam\/valid-acts-worship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">act of worship<\/a> and a proclamation of the greatness of Allah (Exalted be He)! You might find it uncomfortable to constantly remind your family members, but if you simply play an audio file from your laptop, mobile, etc., you\u2019ll notice others will join in with the recitation naturally, <em>in sha\u2019 Allah<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>One of the forms of <em>takbir<\/em> you may recite is:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillaahil-hamd<\/em> (Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, there is no god but Allah, Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, and to Allah be praise.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>4- Renew Your <em>Taqwa<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>After the fasting of Ramadan whose main purpose was <strong>\u201c\u2026that you may become righteous\u201d <\/strong>(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.learning-quran.com\/quran-translations\/german-translation\/recitation-of-surat-al-baqarah-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Al-Baqarah<\/a> 2:183), Allah makes a special connection between sacrificing animals (which has to be offered on the days of `Eid) with <em>taqwa<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;padding-right: 30px\"><strong>Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you.<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.learning-quran.com\/quran-translations\/german-translation\/recitation-of-surat-al-hajj-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Al-Hajj<\/a> 22:37)<\/p>\n<p>The people of <em>taqwa <\/em>(piety and fear of Allah), as explained in Dr. Muhsin Khan\u2019s translation of the Qur\u2019an, are \u201cthe pious believers of Islamic Monotheism who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thus, let us repent from all our sins and try our level best to attain <em>taqwa<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>5- Earn the Reward of a Hajj without Going to Makkah<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Prophet Muhammad said: \u201cWhoever prays <em>Fajr<\/em> in congregation, then sits remembering Allah until the sun has risen, then he prays two <em>rak`ahs<\/em>, then for him is the reward like that of a <a title=\"The Spiritual Guide to Hajj and &#096;Umrah (1-10)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.new-muslims.info\/acts-of-worship\/hajj-pilgrimage\/soul-of-hajj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hajj and `Umrah<\/a>.\u201d He said: \u201cThe Messenger of Allah said: \u2018Complete, complete, complete.\u2019\u201d (At-Tirmidhi)<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s a small deed with such an immense reward! <em>Allahu Akbar<\/em>! However, this would not mean that you will be free from the obligation of Hajj (the fifth pillar of Islam) of course.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>6- Observe Voluntary Fasts<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Allah\u2019s Messenger (peace be upon him) said: \u201cAllah says: \u2018(The person observing <em>sawm<\/em>) has abstained from food and drink, and sexual pleasures for My sake; fasting is for Me, and I will bestow its reward. Every good deed has ten times its reward.&#8217;\u201d (Al-Bukhari)<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the Messenger of Allah said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhoever observes fast for a day in the way of Allah (non-obligatory fasting observed for the sole purpose of pleasing Allah and seeking His blessings), Allah will remove his face from the Hell to the extent of seventy years\u2019 distance.\u201d (Muslim)<\/p>\n<p>So imagine the reward for keeping fasts during these grand days, In sha&#8217; Allah! This applies only for the first nine days. The 10<sup>th<\/sup> of Dhul-Hijjah will be `Eid, in which fasting is prohibited.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 To be continued\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p>_________________________<\/p>\n<p><em>Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/productivemuslim.com\/\">productivemuslim.com<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>[ica_orginalurl]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Like no other days in the Islamic calendar, the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah have a very special status.
