English - Wahiduddin Khan Surah Nooh - Aya count 28
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ ﴿١﴾
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, \"Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment.\"
قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ ﴿٢﴾
[Noah] said, \"My people! I am but a plain warner to you,
أَنِ ٱعْبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ ﴿٣﴾
that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me.
يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٤﴾
He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew.\"
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِى لَيْلًۭا وَنَهَارًۭا ﴿٥﴾
He said, \"My Lord! I have called my people night and day
فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِىٓ إِلَّا فِرَارًۭا ﴿٦﴾
but my pleas have only increased their aversion.
وَإِنِّى كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓاْ أَصَٰبِعَهُمْ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَٱسْتَغْشَوْاْ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّواْ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُواْ ٱسْتِكْبَارًۭا ﴿٧﴾
Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance.
ثُمَّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًۭا ﴿٨﴾
Then I called them openly,
ثُمَّ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًۭا ﴿٩﴾
and spoke to them in public and in private.\"
فَقُلْتُ ٱسْتَغْفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارًۭا ﴿١٠﴾
Then I said, \"Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Surely He is the most forgiving.
يُرْسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًۭا ﴿١١﴾
He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you,
وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٍۢ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَٰرًۭا ﴿١٢﴾
increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways.
مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًۭا ﴿١٣﴾
What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God,
وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا ﴿١٤﴾
when He has created you through different stages of existence?
أَلَمْ تَرَوْاْ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٍۢ طِبَاقًۭا ﴿١٥﴾
Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above another,
وَجَعَلَ ٱلْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًۭا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًۭا ﴿١٦﴾
and made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp,
وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًۭا ﴿١٧﴾
how God has produced you from the earth and caused you to grow,
ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًۭا ﴿١٨﴾
how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again,
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًۭا ﴿١٩﴾
how God has spread the earth out for you
لِّتَسْلُكُواْ مِنْهَا سُبُلًۭا فِجَاجًۭا ﴿٢٠﴾
so that you may walk along its spacious paths?\"
قَالَ نُوحٌۭ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِى وَٱتَّبَعُواْ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارًۭا ﴿٢١﴾
Noah supplicated, \"Lord, they have disobeyed me, and followed those whose wealth and children have only added to their ruin;
وَمَكَرُواْ مَكْرًۭا كُبَّارًۭا ﴿٢٢﴾
and they have hatched a mighty plot,
وَقَالُواْ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّۭا وَلَا سُوَاعًۭا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًۭا ﴿٢٣﴾
and they said [to their followers], \"Do not ever abandon your deities: abandon neither Wadd, nor Suwa', and neither Yaghuth, nor Yauq nor Nasr!\"
وَقَدْ أَضَلُّواْ كَثِيرًۭا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلًۭا ﴿٢٤﴾
They have led many astray; so lead the wrongdoers to further error.\"
مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُواْ فَأُدْخِلُواْ نَارًۭا فَلَمْ يَجِدُواْ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارًۭا ﴿٢٥﴾
They were drowned and sent to Hell for their misdeeds; they found no one to help them against God.
وَقَالَ نُوحٌۭ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا ﴿٢٦﴾
Noah prayed, \"O my Lord! Do not leave on earth a single one of those who deny the truth --
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّواْ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓاْ إِلَّا فَاجِرًۭا كَفَّارًۭا ﴿٢٧﴾
if You leave any, they will misguide Your servants, and they will beget none but sinners and deniers of truth --
رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِىَ مُؤْمِنًۭا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًۢا ﴿٢٨﴾
Lord! Forgive me and my parents and every true believer who enters my house, forgive all the believing men and believing women; and bestow no increase upon the wrongdoers except in ruin?
